  • Born in Iowa in 1939, moved to Flint with family in 1948.

  • Taught 30 years, Grand Rapids Junior/Community College (history, political science, international relations)
  • Coordinator, Distance Learning at GRCC four years
  • Taught and wrote curriculum for Naval War College (Newport, Rhode Island) for three summers
  • Docent at Grand Rapids Art Museum from 1999 to present, serving two terms as president of Docent Council and on Volunteer Council
  • Member of Task Force researching and writing history of voluntarism at Grand Rapids Art Museum
  • Active in Grand Rapids civic affairs
    • Board member and President, World Affairs Council of Western Michigan
    • Project Director, major exhibit of Greek-American Immigration History in Grand Rapids (funded by grant from NEH)

    • Served on Parish Council of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and in choir

    • Wrote three chapters in a college-level political science textbook
    • Wrote an extended book review for the S. Naval War College Review.
    • Organized and led a concentrated historical study of Côte d’Ivoire for a study of Third World development in several provinces in the coastal lowlands and western uplands.
    • Currently am President of Travel With Chardoul, Inc., as I organize and lead group trips to various foreign countries (3 trips to People’s Republic of China; 2 trips to Guatemala; 6 trips to Costa Rica; 3 trips to Greece; 2 trips to Ireland and Scotland; one trip each to Ecuador, Perú, Italy, northern France, northern and eastern Spain, Portugal, Thailand, and northwestern Russia.
